YA Review: A Brief Chapter in my Impossible Life by Dana Reinhardt

Simone knows she's adopted and is happy with her family.  Unlike other adoptive kids, she has no desire to meet her birth mother, even when her birth mother repeatedly calls hoping to get together.   The two do eventually meet, and Simone finds out a lot of surprising things about herself-- including that she's stronger than she realized.  Reinhardt's writing is solid and Simone's voice is both brave and full of doubt-- in other words, authentic for most teenagers.  This was a Missouri Gateway Reader nominee for 2008-2009, and was one of my favorites of the bunch.
