The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie

The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie
Sunshine moves with her mom from sunny Texas, where she’s grown up, to the gloomy, overcast and very rainy pacific Northwest right at Sunshine’s 16th birthday. After they move into their rental house, Sunshine begins hearing and seeing strange things -- ghosts, perhaps, but her mother never seems to notice. Sunshine’s mom is a nurse who works a lot, leaving Sunshine alone in their old, creepy, and possibly haunted house.  As the hauntings continue, and not just in her own home, Sunshine’s new -- and only -- friend named Nolan begins to help her figure out that she’s got special powers. She’s a luiseach, a person who can help stranded spirits move along to their next destination. The question is whether Sunshine and her newly discovered powers will be enough to battle the much more sinister spirits she’s up against. This is the first novel in a series. In a fresh twist, these novels are based on an original YouTube series by Paige McKenzie, who also authored the books.  This is both a YA horror novel and a fun ride. It’s not too scary, and not too campy. And more than likely, you’ll be reaching for the sequels before you know it.
