Book Review: Brooding YA Hero Becoming A Main Character ALMOST as awesome as me by Carrie DiRisio

Brooding YA Hero Becoming A Main Character ALMOST As Awesome As Me by Carrie DiRisio
Broody McHottiepants is a young adult novel character that you’ve read about countless times in all sorts of books. Whenever authors need a witty, charming, and incredibly good looking main character -- especially one who loves to take his shirt off to show off his great abs -- that teen girls will swoon over, they call Broody.
However, Broody hasn’t had many calls lately. It seems his particular style of character isn’t in great demand any longer. So Broody takes it upon himself to write his own story about how to write a young adult novel, including all the various character types and plot points of a typical YA book.  And, every so often, we get side commentary from Broody’s arch-nemesis and former girlfriend, the evil Blondie DeMeani.
If you’re a moderate or heavy reader of YA, you’ll probably find this book absolutely hilarious. While Broody never names names, you’ll immediately recognize the books Broody is poking fun at.
Brooding YA Hero is both a very creative method of satirizing bad but popular YA books and also a how-to writer’s manual for creating a YA novel.

Occassional cartoons penned by Linnea Gear add to the tongue-in-cheek satire.
