Cell by Stephen King

Stephen King gets back to the basics with a simple premise: a cell phone signal goes out, and all who answer the call are turned into zombies.  Those without cell phones are left to try to survive the end of the world and to fight off the zombies, who of course want everyone to be like them.  Cell lacks the sizzle of Kings early work but still has enough depth to make it a worthwhile read-- as long as you can handle the gore (which also isn't as bad as some early work).  Is all technology good for us?  It depends on who you're talking to, and talking about it with Stephen King might make you want to skip that next unknown caller.
